WATERLOO – Jean M. Poormon, 82, of 17 Iroquois Lane, passed away peacefully at her home, Friday (December 17, 2021). Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday (December 27, 2021) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (December 28, 2021) at First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY. Rev. Anita Milne, pastor of the church, will officiate. Those attending calling hours MUST WEAR FACE MASKS. Those attending calling hours MUST enter the funeral home through the parking lot doors and exit the funeral home using the Main St. doors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY, 13165. Jean was born May 8, 1939, in Waterloo, NY, the daughter of George Nathan and Vilma Dorothy Hansen Reed. She was a 1957 graduate of Lyons Central School. She attended business school in Rochester. Jean was employed with Loblaw's Grocery store for a year and a half and then Kodak for a year and a half. She married Eugene "Gene" Poormon in 1960. Jean drove school bus for the Waterloo Central School district from 1970 to 1975. Working alongside her husband, they owned and operated Lone Pine Farm on Yost Road, from 1971 to 2014. Jean was the bookkeeper and manager for the family business. Jean was a very active and longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo. She sang in the church choir and played in the handbells choir. She was a former elder for the church. For many years she was head of and coordinated the churches Friday Free Lunch Program. Jean enjoyed music and being a member of the Red Jacket Choral. She loved playing her organ and playing for those that came to visit her at her home. For many years, Jean participated in the Senior Follies. Jean and Mary Heffler formed the Seneca Short Shooters Horseshoes club. Jean was an avid bowler and found great joy bowling with her mother for many years. She is survived by sons: Douglas (Nadine) Poormon and David (Toni) Poormon of Marion, NY; grandchildren: Valerie (Brandon) Fountain of Chittenango, NY, Tricia (Charlie Chamberlain) Poormon of Boise, ID, and Cody (Tori) Poormon of Ontario, NY; great-grandchildren: Connor and Colton Fountain, Zoey, Charlie, and David Reed Chamberlain; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
