Seneca Falls- Elsie Shoebridge, 92, formerly Seneca Falls, New York passed away peacefully Friday, (January 10, 2014) in Coppell, Texas.
Elsie was born January 6, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Carl and Gustava Larsen Eck. She was a graduate of Lyndhurst High School. Elsie married Edward Shoebridge February 16, 1945 when he returned from the Navy after World War II. She was a full time homemaker and made new friends for life everywhere she and Eddie moved - from Paramus, New Jersey to a return to Upstate New York to retire and enjoy their days together. Elsie was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo and Amber Congregational Church in Amber, New York. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women group where ever she lived.
Elsie is survived by sons Kim Shoebridge, of Ovid, N.Y. and Craig (Kelly) Shoebridge of Seneca Falls; daughters, Linda J. (Robert) Edwards of Seneca Falls and Jan Alstrin Bauman of Irving, TX; seven grandchildren; four great grand-children; brothers, Alan (Fran) Eck of Springfield, VA and Bert (Maureen) Eck of Doylestown, PA; sister, Amy (Bob) Jackson of Lambertville, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eddie; brothers Henry Eck, Carl "Sonny" Eck and sister, Lorraine Albrecht.
Friends and family may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, (January 16) and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, (January 17) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, (January 17) at First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 E. Main St., Waterloo. Rev. Sarah West, pastor, will officiate. A private burial will take place in Amber Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Elsie and Edward R. Shoebridge Scholarship Fund, St. Joseph's College of Nursing, 206 Prospect Ave., Syracuse, N.Y., 13203. This scholarship provides a student with great compassion, excellent potential and high marks with funding to assist with textbooks and supplies.
