Waterloo - Gary L. Bird, 67, of 53 Mill Street, died Friday (December 20, 2013) at Huntington Living Center. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. to 6-8 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 28) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. Military honors will be performed 7 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 28) at the funeral home by members of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. and Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion. The service will be 2 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 29) at the funeral home. Rev. Ellen Donnan, pastor of Junius Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America, 474 Easts Ave., Rochester, NY, 14607 or Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St, Waterloo, NY, 13165. Gary was born December 9, 1946 in Seneca Falls, the son of John D. and Mae A. Fegley Bird, Sr. He was a graduate from Waterloo High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Gary's most recent employment was at Goebert Automotive in Lyons. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, enjoyed RC and Nascar racing - especially being a Jeff Gordan fan. He was the Boy Scout leader of Troop and Pack 81. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Peggy (Troutman) Bird; son: Brian (Juanita) Bird of San Antonio, TX; 2 daughters, Heather (Bill) Millis of Auburn and Nicole (Chris) Kaiser of Canastota, six grandchildren: Samantha (Shawn) Smith, Brooke and Frank Millis, Elihu and Yahaira Garza, and Christopher Kaiser, Jr. and one great-grandson, Chance Smith; three sisters: Beverly (Ralph) Bowman, of Ocala, Fl., Elizabeth Mastellar, of Titusville, Fl., and Diane (Laverne) Weeks, of Hector; brother, Ronald (Sue) Bird, of Waterloo; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, John Bird.
