Dick was born May 7, 1941, in Waterloo, NY, the son of Ernest and Shirley M. Rosa Westfall. He was a 1959 graduate of Waterloo High School. He retired after 42 years of employment with Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls. During his tenure with Goulds he was Union President for the United Steel Workers of America, Local 3298 for 24 years. Dick was devoted to the love of his life, Donna, whom he married 51 years ago. He was a drummer for several bands including the Dick Johnson and the Travelers Jamboree Band. He was a hardworking man and saved his money to the point his vehicles were reminiscent of a Fred Flintstone. Dick was known as a connoisseur of bad candy, he loved circus peanuts, Boston baked beans, basically all the stuff nobody buys anymore.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters Shirley A. Westfall of New Port, Richey, FL, Deborah (Bill McNicholas) Griffith of Waterloo, NY, Wendy Reynolds of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren Nicole (Dan) Nunley and Bobbie (MacKenzie Hurd) O'Connor; great-granddaughters Maggie and Penny; brothers Art (Shirley) Westfall and Gary (Linda) Westfall both of Waterloo, and Robert (Beth) Westfall of Seneca Falls, NY; many nieces and nephews.
Dick was predeceased by his parents; stepfather Carl Lynd; and brother Ernie Westfall.
