Obituary of Robert Lee Bonnell

WATERLOO — Robert Lee Bonnell, 73, passed away peacefully Thursday (November 21, 2024) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY. Family and friends may call 1 PM to 3 PM Saturday (December 7) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, NY. The memorial service will immediately follow at 3 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, condolences and remembrances may be made to Waterloo VFW Post 6433, 29 W. Elisha St., Waterloo, NY 13165. Robert was born August 15, 1951 in Lyons, NY, the son of Jesse James and Barbara Mae Stone Bonnell. He was a Vietnam veteran and completed his education while in the service. Robert worked various jobs, notably as a truck driver for Shaffer Trucking Co., New Kingston, PA, and later for Monro Muffler and Wadham Enterprises in Junius, NY. He was an avid fisher and hunter. Robert is survived by sons Bobby (Laura) Bonnell of Geneva, NY, David Bonnell of Greece, NY and Michael Bonnell of Seneca Falls, NY; grandchildren Robert J. “RJ” Bonnell, Jr., Marjorie Bonnell, and Elizabeth Bonnell; brothers Jack (Mary) Bonnell, Ron (Dee) Bonnell and Alan Bonnell; sisters Shirley Bonnell, Penny Bonnell and Vivian Jones; and 19 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Jess Bonnell.
