WATERLOO/VARICK – Ann E. Scharett, 83, of Varick, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at Geneva General Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
In keeping with Ann's wishes there will be a private calling hour and service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY.

Ann was born August 17, 1941, in Corning, NY, the daughter of Theodore L. and Elizabeth A. Guernsey Reed. She was a graduate of Corning Free Academy the Class of1959. Ann earned her RN degree at Willard School of Nursing. She went on to earn her Healthcare Administration B.S. Degree at St. Joseph College in Maine. Ann was employed as Supervising RN at the Dick VanDyke Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Willard and Assistant Director at the John L. Norris Addiction Treatment Center in Rochester, NY. She was a volunteer for the Family Hope Center in Geneva. She was a member of the Finger Lakes Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Scharett; daughter Donna, husband Cecil Wayles of Hope Valley, RI; son David, wife Deseret Scharett of Hanahan, SC; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother-in-law Joseph, wife Eileen Scharett of Geneva, NY; brother Clayton, wife Elaine Reed of Gilbert, AZ; sister-in-law Joyce Reed of Clovis, CA; and three cousins.
Ann was predeceased by brothers Ken Reed, David, his wife Barb Reed, and sister Carol Reed Scharett.
