WATERLOO — Richard George "Dick" Freeland, 91, passed away unexpectedly Sunday (July 7, 2024) at his home. In keeping with Dick's wishes, there will be no calling hours. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday (July 13) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, NY. Burial will at Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. Military rights will be provided by the Army Honor Guard, members of the Waterloo Memorial Post 6433 VFW, and American Legion Warner VanRiper Post 435. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY 13165. Dick was born July 12, 1932 in Seneca Falls, NY, the son of the late Delbert and Martha Staley Freeland. He was a 1952 graduate of Waterloo High School. Dick was a US Army veteran, serving in Korea from 1952-1954. Upon returning home, he spent many years working at various construction companies. Dick worked for Ed Manna Construction, then Daeffler Brothers, and DeSarro Brothers, before finally becoming co-owner and co-operator of Pete Saracino & Dick Freeland Construction Co. Pete and Dick were in business together for many years. He was also a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waterloo. Dick is survived by many friends.
