Obituary of Alda Evelyn Blamble

JUNIUS — Alda Evelyn Blamble, 90, passed away Thursday (April 18, 2024) at Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons, NY with her loving family by her side. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or service. Burial will be 2 PM Saturday (May 11) in South Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Rd, Lyons, NY 14489. Alda was born May 6, 1933 in Junius, NY, the daughter of Foster B. and Alice Mae Demming Steele. After high school, she worked as a seed pollinator for the Cornell Experimental Station in Geneva, NY, retiring after 28 years. Alda loved cooking and gardening. She was also an avid quilt maker and loved showing her work at quilt shows. She spent much of her free time reading and birdwatching. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Doreen Orbaker, and to thank the employees of Wayne County Nursing Home for their exceptional care. Alda is survived by her son Edward (Darlene) Blamble of Newark, NY; grandchildren Amanda Bowman, Allison (Levi) Blamble, and Matthew (Karissa) Blamble; great-grandchildren Gavin, Cullen, Lucas, JoeMax; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Elwood H. Blamble; brothers Lewis, Marvin and Lawrence Steele; and sister Clara Ridley Simmons.
