SENECA FALLS — Judith Long, 86, passed away unexpectedly Monday (December 4, 2023) at Geneva General Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Family and friends may call from 10 p.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday (December 16), at Calvary Chapel, 2291 NY-89, Seneca Falls, N.Y. The memorial service will be at 12 p.m. Saturday (December 16), at Calvary Chapel. Raymond Torrey, pastor of the church, will officiate.

Judy was born June 12, 1937 in Syracuse, N.Y., the daughter of the late Clifton Bion and Clara Marie Dates Whitman. Judith was a 1955 graduate of Central High School, Syracuse, N.Y. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in education from Wheelock College, Boston, MA, in 1959. Judy began her teaching career in NJ, then Long Island, where she met her husband. Upon settling in the Finger Lakes, she taught in the Waterloo Central School District as an elementary school teacher for over 30 years. Judy enjoyed serving the community. She was a prior member of Phi Beta Psi sorority Alpha Beta Chapter, served as a deaconess, and was a board member of the Finger Lakes Christian School. Judy was also an active member of the Huntington Nursing Home hospital guild.

Judy is survived by her son Roy (Melissa) Long of Raleigh, N.C. ; daughters Pamela (Daniel Sr.) Kane of Seneca Falls, N.Y. and Martha (Daniel) Dygert of Cato, N.Y.; grandchildren Lauren (Frank) Caratozzolo, Matthew (Eleni) Long, Kathryn (Preston) Yoder, Rebecca (Thomas) Rhett, Hannah Dygert, Abigail (Daniel) Hatzala, Daniel Kane, Jr., Roy Kane, Libby Kane, Madison Long and Audrey Long; 15 great-grandchildren, with two more arriving March 2024; and cousins.

Judy was fondly known to her family as “NASCAR Granny.”

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert Wheeler Long; and one great-grandchild, Damien Cure.
