Waterloo - Laura May Murray Clise, 100, formerly of 583 Waterloo-Geneva Rd., died Friday (October 11, 2013) at Living Center North in Geneva.
Friends may call 2 p.m. to 4 p .m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday (Oct. 14) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 15) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Church in Geneva, 24 Park Place, Geneva, NY, 14456.
Laura was born April 22, 1913 in Fayette, the daughter of Albert and Uelma Poormon Murray. She was a graduate of Waterloo High School. After graduating from high school she attendedCanandaigua Normal School,where she received her bachelor's degree in education. Beginning her teaching career, she taught in various country schools. Later, she graduated from SUNY Geneseo with her master's degree. She then taught third grade for over 20 years, at Lyons Central School, until her retirement. Laura was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Presbyertian Church of Geneva.
She is survived by daughters, Nancy (Richard) Carlson of Waterloo and Eleanor Jones of Midland, Mich; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; sister, Lydia Fischer; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold W. Clise; daughter, Jeanne Clise, brothers, Richard Murray and Almond "DeDe" Murray; sisters, Ella Pease, Nellie McCoy, Mildred Speer, Alice Brown, and Dorothy Maloney; and son-in-law, Melvin Jones.
