GENEVA - Richard M. Garrett, 79, passed away Tuesday (November 14, 2023) at Geneva General Hospital with his loving family by his side. In keeping with Dick's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (November 19), at Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion, 7 E. William St., Waterloo, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD, 21741. Richard was born May 4, 1944 in Geneva, N.Y., the son of Myron and Doris Heinzman Garrett. He was a 1962 graduate of Waterloo Central High School. Richard was employed for many years with Pipefitters Union 802, and a member of the Coon Hunters Club. Richard is survived by his loving companion of many years, Sue Hutchinson of Geneva, N.Y.; daughters Julie Price and Jodie (Mike) Pearson of Seneca Falls, N.Y., and Nicole (Dominic) Easton of Wilmington, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Roger (Kitty Van Bortel) Garrett of Victor, N.Y., and Robert (Bonnie Dixon) Garrett of Geneva, N.Y.; sisters Diane (Chris) Jones of Geneva, N.Y. and Virginia (Earl Bowen) Irland of Waterloo, N.Y.; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and the four children of his companion Wendy (Irfan) Yaran, Rod (Cathy) Hutchinson, Tim (Tiffany Arndt) Hutchinson of Waterloo, N.Y., and Tammy Hutchinson of Geneva, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents.
