WATERLOO – Charles "Chuck" A. Yost, 88, of Waterloo, NY, passed away Tuesday (July 11, 2023) at his home with family by his side.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 A.M. on Tuesday (July 18) at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Leah Ntuala, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Seneca Falls, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY, 13165.
Chuck was born March 17, 1935, in Waterloo, NY, the son of Van Cleef and Helen Rooney Yost. He was a 1953 graduate of the Waterloo Central High School. Chuck was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1953 to 1955. Working as a Waterloo Village Police Officer, Chuck earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. He retired after serving for many years, as an officer for the Waterloo Village Police Department. After retiring from the police department, Chuck was not ready to fully retire. He began a second career with the Geneva Times, now known as the Finger Lakes Times. Chuck worked as a Classified Ad salesman. Many who knew Chuck will remember him as an athletic man. He enjoyed many sports such as softball, cross country skiing, rollerblading, hunting, fishing, the shot put, javelin, hammer, and discus. Chuck participated in many of the NYS Empire Games and also the Seniors Games. He traveled cross country to participate in events. Chuck appeared in the Health and Wellbeing Preferred Care Medical Insurance Calendar for the month of June in 2005. He was a longtime and very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo.
He is survived by his wife whom he married 69 years ago, Joyce M. Wagner Yost; children Lori (Michael) Morales of Ft. Worth, TX, David (Anne) Yost of Morrison, CO, and Allison (Patrick) Crowe of Romulus; grandchildren Nicole (Jay) Small, Jared Morales, Megan Yost, Kendra Yost, Ryan Yost, and Tayler Crowe; great-granddaughter Odessa Small; and cousins.
