Obituary of Ernest Charles Rude

JUNIUS/NEWARK/WATERLOO – Ernest C. Rude, 87, formerly of Junius and Newark, passed away Friday (June 16, 2023) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday (June 29) in the Dugway Cemetery, Dugway, NY. Rev. Ellen Donnan, retired pastor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity or Huntington Living Center, 369 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY, 13165.
Ernest was born February 9, 1936, in Central Square, NY, the son of Almon R. and Reba M. Twiss Rude. He began working as a farm hand. Ernest later drove truck for McPikes in Palmyra, NY. Leaving from McPikes, he drove for Trailways and for various other bus services. Ernest was an occasional touring bus driver after leaving Trailways. He was a member of the Junius Presbyterian Church. Ernest was a former member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church and worked with the Youth Groups. He was also a past member of the Port Gibson Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his children, Kristi L. C. Ward of Clyde, NY and Kevin (Sandy) Rude of Port Gibson, NY; stepson, Joe Riordan of Seneca Falls, NY; grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Crance of Brewerton, NY and Jeffrey (Alison) Crance of Seneca Falls, NY; great-grandchild, Maya Crance; siblings, Barry (Jeanette) Hubbard, Bonita Haskins, Vonda Bisha, and Robin Hubbard; and many nieces and nephews.
Ernest was predeceased by his wife of 21 years, Marcia G. Coe Rude on April 5, 2023; and brothers Charles Rude and John Hubbard
