Obituary of Nancy Jane Coleman

WATERLOO/PHELPS – Nancy J. Coleman, 79, a former Waterloo resident who was currently residing in Phelps, NY, passed away Thursday (May 18, 2023) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Newark, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday (May 30) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Waterloo, NY. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (May 31) at the funeral home. Rev. Anita Milne, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD, 21741. Nancy was born November 12, 1943, in Waterloo, NY, the daughter of Walter B. and Louise Drake Coleman. She was a 1961 graduate of Waterloo Central High School. Nancy studied at Cayuga County Community College, then transferred to SUNY Cobleskill. She graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 1965 with a degree in Nursery Education. She was employed for 20 years with Lifetime Care as a health aide. Nancy also worked for Seneca County as a clerk. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo. Nancy was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Seneca Chapter 78. She is survived by her sister-in-law Muriel Coleman of Canandaigua, NY; nieces Sherry (Larry) Sacco of Canandaigua, NY and Jill (Mick) Eberle of W. Lafayette, IN; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her parents; and brother, William W. Coleman.
