WATERLOO – Margaret "Maxi" M. Ross, 83, of Waterloo, NY, passed away, Monday, April 17, 2023, at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, FL, with her loving husband, children and granddaughter by her side. Her family is grateful to have spent the final hours of her life with her, when they shared their memories, love, and meaningful goodbyes. Maxi was a bright light of joy and laughter, always with a sweet greeting and big hug. The last hours of her life were no different. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Waterloo, NY. At 5:00 pm, there will be a prayer service at the funeral home. After the prayer service, the family will host a reception at the American Legion, 7 E Williams Street, Waterloo, NY. A memorial mass will be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Maxi's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Maxi was born March 10, 1940, in Auburn, NY, the daughter of Harold A. Madigan and Iretta Reese Bachman. She was a 1958 graduate of Mynderse Academy. After 24 years of employment with Goulds Pumps, Maxi retired, but maintained the many friendships she had made over her years at Goulds. Following her retirement, she kept working, this time at the NYS Chiropractic College as a switchboard receptionist and a clerk in the bookstore, where her friendly demeanor was an asset to the college. For many years, she also shared her seamstress skills with the community through her business Hem's Up. Maxi was an avid and skilled bowler, which resulted in her membership in the 600 Club and 700 Club. For many years, she was a Waterloo Little League volunteer and a member of the Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. and the Marine Corps League Auxiliaries. In addition, her service extended to St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was a communicant. Maxi and Paul enjoyed many happy years together, living in Bradenton, FL seasonally, making friends in the Sunshine State, enjoying cruises and each other's company. To know Maxi is to know the joy she derived from her trips to del Lago, especially the Wednesday morning coffee and muffin social event, where her smile and laugh surely will be missed. Maxi loved her children and grandchildren dearly and never missed an opportunity to make sure they knew how much they were loved. She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul A. Altemari, retired Master Sergeant, USMC; sons, Robert L. Ross, Jr. ("Rosser") of Waterloo, NY and Raymond (Theresa) Ross of Victor, NY; daughter, Terry (Greg) Miner of Waterloo, NY; grandchildren Nicole (Jason) Miner Rinebold, Ashley (Amanda Forney) Miner, Heather (Joshua) Miner Hubbard, Ethan Ross (Grace), and Caroline Ross; great-grandchildren, Silas and Lili Hubbard; sister, Bonnie Hosford of Waterloo, NY; sister-in-law Jane Madigan of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Maxi was predeceased by her sister, Ann Raum; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Al Brownfield; brother, Robert Madigan; brother-in-law, Timothy Hosford; nieces Masha Hosford Felton and Lori Madigan; and nephew James Aregano. Condolences and remembrances may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
