WATERLOO – Walter H. Cooley, 78, of Waterloo, NY, passed away Wednesday (April 5, 2023) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday (May 19) at Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. Dr. Rev. Floyd Marsh, pastor of Harvest Field Baptist Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY, 13165.
Walter was born October 14, 1944, in Waterloo, NY, the son of Lewis E. and Myrtle J. Green Cooley. He was a U. S. Army veteran, during the Vietnam War. Walt was a self-employed construction worker. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and rodeos. He also enjoyed watching old western movies. Walt played cards and shuffleboard. He participated in horse shows, with family and friends. He loved family get togethers and making chili for the family. Walt was a prankster and jokester. He enjoyed being outside.
He is survived by siblings, Thomas (Marion) Cooley of Waterloo, NY, Albert Cooley of Newark, NY, Jack (Leigh Ann) Cooley of Oswego, NY, Clifford Cooley of North Rose, NY and Denise (Mark Fairman) Cooley of Waterloo, NY; aunt, Gertrude Jones of Seneca Falls, NY; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Larry Edington of Waterloo, NY.
Walt was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, June Bennett, Sandra Fritz and Edward Cooley.
