Obituary of Gordon Albert Jones

JUNIUS/PHELPS – Gordon Albert Jones, 87, of Junius/Phelps, passed peacefully Sunday (January 29, 2023) at Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca, N.Y. Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday (February 5) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Waterloo, N.Y. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday (February 6) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Varick, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sampson Military Museum, 6096 Route 96A, Romulus, N.Y., 14541. Gordon was born October 5, 1935, in Milo, N.Y., the son of William Arthur and Esther Ann Brace Jones. After graduating from Dundee Central School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his basic training at the Sampson Air Force Base. Gordon served in the Korean War. He held various jobs including construction and working for vineyards. Gordon retired from Goulds Pumps after 28 years of employment. He then worked for the Auto Auction in Waterloo. Gordon is survived by his wife of 67 years Roxanne M. Hodge Jones; daughters, Jennifer L. Wheeler, Connie L. F. Jones-Jensen, Malissa K. (Frank) Albro, and Cathy (Dan) Manino; sons Greggory Allen Jones, Sr., and Jeffrey W. Jones; grandchildren Bethann Wheeler, Jeffrey L. C. Wheeler, Charles J. Wheeler, Jacquelynne M. Hirschler, Nicole M. Chiclana, Paul V. Norcott, Greggory A. Jones, Jr., James F. Jones, Timothy J. Jones, Ken Hartmann, Jessica L. Rivera, Brienna M. Jones, David Manino, Christine Manino, Rachelle J. Everett, Brianna F. Jones, Bradley P. Albro, Victoria M. Preston and Tricia M. Bourne; as well as many great and great-great grandchildren; a favorite niece Pauline (Tracy) Bracknell; and cousin Cora Leshure. Predeceased by his parents; granddaughter Ashley L.
