WATERLOO/CANANDAIGUA - Betty H. "Nikki" Kemak of Canandaigua, formerly of Waterloo, died on Wednesday, (January 18, 2023).



In keeping with Betty's wishes there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, at a later date. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, N.Y.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Waterloo Library & Historical Society, 31 E. Main St., Waterloo, N.Y., 13165 or the First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 E. Main St., Waterloo, N.Y., 13165.



Betty was born in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, on June 17, 1926, to "Wid" Holter, a dentist, and Josephine Tibbens Holter, an artist. Betty attended Lock Haven Teachers College and Rider University in New Jersey where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Later, she earned her master's degree in elementary education from SUNY Cortland and taught at Romulus Central School District for 17 years. When she retired, she worked parttime as the director of the Waterloo Library.



Betty was a longtime member of the Waterloo Research Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo. She was a Literacy Volunteer and served as a trustee of the Waterloo Library & Historical Society.



She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Kemak of Rochester, N.Y., Tina Manzer (Brian Green) of Canandaigua, N.Y., and Lora Hammaker (Scott) of Camp Hill, Pa.; two grandchildren, Jordan Manzer (Hannah Zon) of Loveland, Colo., and Krystian Hammaker of Camp Hill, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Layana and Odell Manzer of Loveland, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.



She was predeceased by her husband John Kemak and her grandchildren Kallan Hammaker and Aaron Manzer.
