Waterloo - James Jarod Koopman, 85, of 15 Arrowhead Dr., died Thursday (August 22, 2013) at his home with his loving family by his side. A private graveside service for the family will be at their convenience in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterloo. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Home, P.O. Box 516, Seneca Falls, 13148 or Hospice of Wayne & Seneca Counties, c/o Lifetime Care, 3111 Winton Road South, Rochester, 14623-9915. James was born June 27, 1928 in Waterloo, the son of Charles F. and Agnes Ryan Koopman. He was a 1947 graduate of Waterloo High School. He served in the U. S. Army from 1948 to 1951. He retired after 30 years of employment with Evans Chemetics and later, worked with his sons in Koopman & Son. He was involved with Waterloo Little League for 15 years. Jim was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion and Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. He was a life member of Waterloo Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth S. House Koopman; sons, Charles F. Koopman of Seneca Falls and James J. "Jay" (Joanne "Jo") Koopman of Waterloo; grandchildren, Jarod (Carly) Koopman, Jessica (Michael) Passalacqua, Jillian (A.J.) Trahms, Sonora, Maranda, Deena, Matthew, and Nicholas Koopman; great-grandchildren, Ella and Ryan Koopman, Owen Passalacqua, and Olivia Trahms; half-sister, Katherine (Raymer) Ottman of Rochester; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
