TYRE/WATERLOO – John A. Worden, Jr., 79, passed away Monday (July 4, 2022) at Geneva General Hospital. There will be a celebration of life at 6:00 p.m. Thursday (July 14) at Muranda Cheese, 3075 State Route 96 South, Waterloo, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes, 1529 Mound Rd., Seneca Falls, NY, 13148 or Ridge Road Cemetery Association, c/o Bruce Griggs, 1912 Stevenson Rd., Seneca Falls, NY, 13148. John was born October 19, 1942, in Waterloo, NY, the son of John A., Sr. and Kathleen Tracy Worden. He was a 1960 graduate of Waterloo High School. John was born into agriculture. He was the fourth generation to manage his family's land as a dairy and crop farmer. Throughout the years, John wore many hats. He worked at Seneca Knit, Evans Chemetics as a chemical engineer, Peter Kewitt & Sons as a millwright, and Town of Tyre Highway Superintendent for eight years. John was an honest, hardworking, trustworthy man. He was a very active and repected member of the Tyre community. John served as a councilman for the Town of Tyre for 28 years. He was a lifelong member of the Magee Fire Department where he served as assistant chief for a period of time. John was also a member of the Farm Bureau. John was an avid hunter. He earned his nickname, "Crack-shot Johnny" by having a keen eye and steady aim. He would spend hours with his fellow Bristol Valley Loafers Hunting Club where they would sometimes hunt and sometimes just share stories and laugh. He was proud to be a charter member of the club. John was many things to many people. He was always willing to give a helping hand to others. He will best be known for his storytelling and practical jokes. John loved his family unconditionally. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda J. Garrett Worden; son Neil Worden of Seneca Falls, NY; daughters Carrie (Cary) Garcin of Shadow Hills, CA and Heather (Christopher) Curvin of Delanson, NY; grandchildren Holly Garcin, Kaitlyn Curvin, and Claire Curvin; brother Richard Worden of Seneca Falls, NY; sisters Mary Maloney and Ruth Brown both of Seneca Falls, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
