Obituary of Laura Ann Jolly

GENEVA/VARICK – Laura A. Jolly, 82, of Geneva/Varick, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday (November 10, 2021) with her loving family by her side. In keeping with the wishes of the family, there will be no calling hours or service. In lieu of flowers, Phi Beta Psi Sorority, Alpha Beta Chapter, c/o Ellen Armitage, 26 Center St. Waterloo, NY 13165. Phi Beta Psi is a national project for cancer research. Laura was born on June 8, 1939 in Waterloo, NY, the daughter of Edward and Beatrice L. (Stoll) Schultz. After graduating from Ovid Central School in 1957, she worked as a nurse's aide at Willard Psychiatric Hospital. She was a longtime member of the Varick Volunteer Fire Department. Laura enjoyed sewing, knitting, painting ceramics and crafts in general. She loved watching NASCAR and traveling to the races with her husband in their motorhome. For 30 years they spent winters in Florida and she especially enjoyed their trip to Alaska. During summers she planned many camping trips with her grandchildren. Laura is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jesse E. Jolly; son Jeffrey (Yvonne) Jolly of Geneva, NY; daughter Tammy von Hahmann of Geneva, NY; grandchildren Taylor (Sam Rollo) Jolly, Paige (Ryan Juergens) Jolly, Cortney (Reik Laubenstein) von Hahmann, and Danielle (Kyle) Christie; and great-granddaughter Zoe von Hahmann. Laura was predeceased by her parents, brother Marlow Schultz and son-in-law Karl von Hahmann.
