Obituary of Joan Sorensen

Geneva- Joan C. Sorensen, 78, of 4300 Rt. 96A, died Thursday (June 27, 2013) at House of John in Clifton Springs. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday (July 2) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 11a.m. Tuesday (July 2nd) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Romulus. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, 14432. Joan was born March 31, 1935 in Waterloo, the daughter of Edwin and Florence Haust Parks. She was a 1953 graduate of Romulus High School. She was employed with Willard Psychiatric Hospital, until the closing of the hospital, then was employed with the DDSO in Newark, until retiring. She has been a longtime member of the Fayette Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. She was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club and the International Harvester Club. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Sorensen; sons, Rob (Leslie Berry) Sorensen of MacDougall and Chris (Jada) Sorensen of Cedar Hill, TN; daughter, Susan (Dan) Markowski of Phelps; granddaughter, Emily Grace Sorensen; step-granddaughter, Beth Markowski; brother, Peter Parks of Orlando, FL; sister, Donna Dunn of Ithaca; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
