WATERLOO – John A. Murray, 68, of Waterloo, NY, died Sunday (July 26, 2020) at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. In keeping with John's wishes, there will be no calling hours. The committal service and military rites will be 2 p.m. Friday (May 28, 2021) at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Mike Bowen, a friend of John's, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH, 45250-0301 or Wounded Warrior Project, 12672 Silicon Dr., Suite 105, San Antonio, TX, 78249. John was born May 29, 1952, in Geneva, NY, the son of the late Grace E. Baxter Murray. He was a 1970 graduate of Waterloo Central School. John was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country in the Vietnam War. During his years of employment, he worked for various companies as a truck driver. He owned and operated his trucking business from 1985 to 1992. He was a life member of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V. F. W. and Kirk-Casey Post 366, American Legion. He is survived by brother Frederick (Tina) Murray of Waterloo, NY; sister Colleen (Ronald) Stein of Waterloo, NY; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
