WATERLOO/FAYETTE – James F. Wessig, Sr., 89, of Fayette, NY, passed away Sunday (January 31, 2021) at his home, with his loving family by his side.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (February 4, 2021) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday (February 5) at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waterloo, NY. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of the church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterloo, NY.
Those attending calling hours and/or the service MUST wear face masks and social distance. Those attending calling hours will need to ENTER the funeral home through the parking lot doors and EXIT through the Main St. doors.

Jim was born December 3, 1931, in Waterloo, NY, the son of Emil J. and Charlotte A. Roles Wessig. He attended Waterloo High School. Jim owned and operated his own farm for many years. He was a member of Rosehill Grange and Dairy Lee Co-op. Jim was a Seneca County 4-H leader. He was a sales rep for Mason Shoes, McNess, and Fuller Brush companies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Betty J. Lindsay Wessig; sons Edwin (Donna) Wessig of Waterloo, NY, James (Maria) Wessig, Jr. of Egg Harbor City, NJ; and John (Celia) Wessig of Waterloo, NY; daughters Emily (Daniel Leal) Pierce of Redfield, KS and Carolyn (Jeremy) Christoff of Waterloo, NY; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents; brothers Harold and Edward Wessig; and sister Frances Trout.
