Obituary of Sandra Arleen Waelz

WATERLOO – Sandra Arleen Waelz, 78, of Waterloo, NY, passed away on Wednesday (December 30, 2020) with her loving husband by her side at Geneva General Hospital. Family and friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday (January 7) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. All those attending visitation MUST wear face masks and social distance. All those attending will need to enter the funeral home through the parking lot doors and exit through the Main St. doors. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday (January 8, 2021) at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2414 NY- 414, Waterloo, NY. Rev. William Dorow, Jr., pastor of the church, will officiate. Those attending MUST wear face masks and social distance. All need to enter the church through the parking lot/office doors. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Concordia College, 171 White Plains Road, Bronxville, NY, 10708. Sandra was born February 12, 1942, at Waterloo Memorial Hospital, the daughter of the late Duane and Pearl Lahr. Sandra was a 1960 graduate of Waterloo Senior High School. She received an Associate in Arts Degree from Concordia College where she studied to become a church organist. Sandra was an accomplished church organist at Calvary Lutheran Church for over 15 years. She played the organ for other churches in the Finger Lakes area as well. Sandra had a passion for reading, sewing, classical music, history, and historical homes. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She loved to give her family members nicknames. She was a member of the Southside Home Demonstration Unit and the Red Hat Society. Sandra was a member of the Hobart William Smith Colleges Community Choir. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Winfried Waelz; son Rudi (BJ) Waelz of Bessermer City, NC; daughter Judi (William) Bogart of Williamson, NY; grandson Sergei Waelz; granddaughters Faith Waelz, Natalli Bogart, and Corrin Bogart; sister Marilyn (Kent) Arnold of Webster, NY; sister-in-law Ida (Alfred) Sawall; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
