SENECA FALLS – John J. Sobus, III, 59, of Seneca Falls, NY, died Monday (January 28, 2019) at his home. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 5) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Waterloo, NY. The memorial service will be immediately after at the funeral home. Rev. Michael Merritt, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Geneva, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to organization of one's choice. John was born Oct. 23, 1959, in Geneva, NY, the son of John J. and Dorothy L. Dermott Sobus, Jr. He was a 1979 graduate of Waterloo Central School. He was a former employee of the NYS Thruway Authority and Evans Chemetics, Waterloo, NY. John was an avid golfer and weightlifter. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Joseph Insojna) Sweet of Gloversville, NY; five grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy L. Sobus of Palmyra, NY; siblings, Yolanda (Cosmo) Iannopollo of Geneva, NY, Mabel (Stephen) Ninestine of South Hill, VA, Joseph Sobus of Palmyra, NY, James (Tammy) Sobus of Taylorsville, KY, Jeffery (Kelly) Sobus of Waterloo, NY, and Lorraine (John) Knifley of Geneva, NY; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his father, John J. Sobus, Jr. and niece, Christina Ninestine. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
