Obituary of Henry John Jahna

WATERLOO – Henry J. Jahna, 93, of Seneca Falls, NY, formerly of Waterloo, NY, died Friday (Dec. 7, 2018) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday (Dec 13) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home. The Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA, 02241-7005. Henry was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Junius, NY, the son of Julius and Emilie Fisher Jahna. He began attending school in a school house on Whiskey Hill Rd. After attending a few years, he attended school at St. Mary's School in Waterloo. Graduating from St. Mary's he attended the Waterloo Main Street School. Henry was employed for forty years with Evans Chemetics in Waterloo. He also farmed, drove school bus, and did general construction. Henry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He is survived by his children, Robert Jahna of Gibsonburg, OH, William (Michele) Jahna of Chesterfield, VA, Nancy (Ray) Porter of Chandler, AZ, James (Anita) Jahna of Waterloo, NY, Kenneth Jahna of New Bern, NC, Randy Jahna of Waterloo, NY, Michael Jahna of Geneva, NY; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, John Jahna of Waterloo, NY; one niece and one nephew; longtime friends Roger and Charlotte Smith of Seneca Falls, NY; his home was a home to many foster children.
