Obituary of Florence Steele

Geneva – Florence Steele, 95, of 99 Lewis St., Apt. 319, died Monday (June 11, 2018) at her home with her loving family by her side. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (June 20, 2018) at Oaklawn Cemetery, Phelps, NY. Rev. Phyllis Granger, pastor of First Baptist Church in Geneva, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Home, P.O. Box 516, Seneca Falls, NY, 13148 or Salvation Army, P.O. Box 532, Geneva, NY, 14456. Florence was born May 23, 1923, in Geneva, NY, the daughter of Francis W. and Alice V. Oldacre Guest. She graduated from Geneva High School. Florence also graduated from Geneva School of Practical Nursing. For many years she was a private duty homecare nurse and later worked at Geneva General Hospital in Pediatrics. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Geneva. Florence was a former member of the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her sons, Richard (Sally) Steele of Valley View, TX and William (Betty) Steele of Waterloo, NY; daughter, Linda Witt of Newark, NY; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Koscumb of Fairport, NY and Jane Beaudet of Buffalo, NY; sister-in-law, aunt, Alda Blamble of Junius, NY; many nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased by her husbands, Kenneth C. Rosenthal and Lewis C. Steele; and sisters, Lillian Jackson, Elizabeth Benton, and Dorothy Nichols.
