Waterloo – Roger P. M. Daeffler, 87, of 2538 Edwards Rd., died Saturday (June 9, 2018) at the Canandiagua V. A. Medical Center. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (June 15) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday (June16) at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2414 NY-414, Waterloo, NY. Rev. William Dorow, Jr., will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY, 14620 or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA, 02241. Roger was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Luck, WI, the son of Alfred P. and Viola Tromberg Daeffler. He was a 1950 graduate of Cameron High School in Cameron, WI. Roger was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War from 1951–1953. Returning from the service he worked for his uncle at Daeffler Construction in Waterloo for a period of time, then he worked for various companies including Sessler Wrecking & Excavating in Waterloo. Roger also drove school bus for the Waterloo Central School District and was employed by the Town of Waterloo as the superintendent of the Border City Water District. He was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Roger was a member of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W., Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion, and the Korean War Vets. He was a member of Waterloo Jaycees and Waterloo Lions Club. For many years, he coached for Waterloo Little League. He was a scout leader for Troop 81 for many years. Roger was a founding member and coach for Vince Lombardie Football. He was a longtime member of Waterloo Sportsmans Club. He is survived by his wife, whom he married June 19, 1954, Audrey Coats Daeffler; daughters, Cheryl (Clinton) Alger of Waterloo, NY and Karene (Thomas) Deal Cook of Safety Harbor, FL; sons, Rodney Daeffler of Englewood, FL, Douglas (Joan) Daeffler and Larry (Carla) Daeffler both of Waterloo, NY; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Robert) Sessler of Naples, FL; many nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Daeffler; two grandchildren; a brother, Rodney Daeffler; and a sister, Barbara Sessler.
