Obituary of John Benson Carr

Waterloo – John "Jackson" B. Carr, 85, passed peacefully Thursday May 10, 2018 at home. Friends may call 6 – 8 pm Tuesday May 15, 2018 at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday May 16 at the funeral home with David Underwood, pastor of Waterloo Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sampson Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Varick, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Canandaigua VA Medical Center, 400 Fort Hill Ave., Canandaigua, NY 14424 or Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY 13165. John was born June 5, 1932 in Clyde, NY the son of Joseph E. and Jean M. Benson Carr, Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of Newark High School. John served in the US Navy from 1952 – 1956 during the Korean War. He retired after many years of employment with Xerox in Webster. He was a former member of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. and Warner VanRiper Post 435 American Legion. John was one of the three founders for Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. He is survived by wife Barbara J. Carr, children, Steve (Janet) Carr, Dawn Leone, Randy Carr, Chris (Jackie) Carr, Mark (Tracy) Carr and Morghan (Christian) Cross; brothers, Donald (Lois) Carr, Chuck Carr, Robert Carr, Timothy (Linda) Carr; sisters, Beverly (Donald) Van Hoover and Peg (Norman) Percy; many nieces and nephews.
