Obituary of Betty Jane Totman

Junius/Lyons – Betty Jane Totman, 85, of 457 Rt. 14, died Sunday (May 6, 2018) at Light Hill Comfort Care Home in Canandaigua, NY. There will be no calling hours. The memorial service will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday (May 19) at United Church of Phelps, Phelps, NY. Rev. A. J. Tierson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Phelps, NY, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Totman Fund at the United Church of Phelps, 58 Main St., Phelps, NY, 14532 or Light Hill Comfort Care Home, 5160 Parrish St. Ext., Canandaigua, NY, 14424. Betty was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Junius, NY, the daughter of William and Anna Verherbugge Clarissen. She was a 1949 graduate of Waterloo High School. Betty worked for several years for Shuron Optical in Geneva, NY. She later was employed with Lyons National Bank for many years as a bookkeeper and eventually setting up one of the first computer systems for the bank. In her retirement she remained active in the community and spending time with her family. She was a member and elder of Junius Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed attending church at the United Church of Phelps. She is survived by sons, Todd (Jeanne) Totman of Gorham, NY and Ted Totman of Lyons, NY; daughters, Rachel (John) Riccione of Fairport, NY and Hope (Scott) Albrecht of Phelps, NY; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband, George Totman; nine sisters; and her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mills. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
