Waterloo – Avalea "Dutch" Smith, 80, of 8 Taylor Ave., died Thursday (August 10, 2017) at Upstate Medical/University Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 17) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Waterloo, NY. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 18) at West Fayette Presbyterian Church, 1063 St. Rt. 336, Fayette, NY. Stephen Beals, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY, 13165. Dutch was born March 9, 1937, in Waterloo, NY, the daughter of Edward C. and Catherine "Kay" Bailey Allen. She was employed as cook for Nicastro's Restaurant in Fayette, NY, Rosemary's Diner in Phelps, NY, and Chases' Family Restaurant in Seneca Falls, NY, until the restaurant closed. Dutch then worked for G. W. Lisk in Clifton Springs, NY, until her retirement. She is survived by her husband, Benny G. Smith; daughter, Penny (Kenneth) Saunders, of Seneca Falls, NY; grandchildren, Brandon Smith of Waterloo, NY, Joseph Derleth of Romulus, NY, Cheyann Saunders and David Saunders both of Seneca Falls, NY; great grandchildren, Keira Kay Derleth and Joseph Derleth, Jr.; brother, William H. Allen of Attica, NY; sisters, Pam Young of Montezuma, NY and Cynthia Kinsella of Syracuse, NY; uncle, Richard (Bonnie) Bailey of Waterloo, NY; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
