Waterloo - William Clarence Flack, Sr., 69, of 0652 Waterloo-Geneva Rd., died Sunday (January 27, 2013) peacefully at Geneva General Hospital, after a brief illness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 30) and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 31)at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 31) at funeral home. Raymond Torrey, pastor of Calvary Chapel In Seneca Falls, will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Geneva.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Border City Volunteer Fire Dept., 3000 Fallbrook St., Geneva, NY, 14456.
Bill was born March 4, 1943 in Julian, PA, the son of Clarence W. and Sarah Wellers Flack. While he was young, his family moved to Seneca Falls where he graduated from Mynderse Academy. Later, he graduated from Freeman Business School. He worked at Goulds Pumps for nine years, then was employed for many years with the NYS Canal System, retiring as chief locks attendant. He was an avid sportsman and athlete who enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, bowling, horseshoes, darts, shuffle board, and euchre. He was a member of the Civil War Re-enactment Group in Waterloo, Waterloo Sportsman Club, Border City Volunteer Fire Dept., Finger Lakes Moose Lodge 823, and Whitetail Hunting Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Roxanne (Rusty) Hayes of Phelps; one son, William (Cheryl) Flack, Jr. of Waterloo; grandchildren, Sara Flack and her fiance, Sean McDonald, Neil Flack and his fiance, Kaylin Smith, Mary Hayes, and Allison Hayes; great- grandchildren, Aiden and Kellen McDonald and Keatan Flack; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose A. Delamarter Flack, who died Dec. 18, 2002; and his sister, Barbara Lynch.
