Waterloo – Jean McGhan, 85, of 86 ½ Stark St., died Tuesday (April 25, 2017) at Geneva General Hospital, with her family by her side. Friends may call 11 to 1 p.m. Saturday (April 29) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo, NY. The funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Clare/St Francis Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mia Foundation, 3177 Latta Rd. #188, Rochester, NY, 14612 or Canoga Cemetery, c/o Peter Lawatsch, 3350 Parker Rd., Seneca Falls, NY, 13148. Jean was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Waterloo, NY, the daughter of Claude and Gladys Buck Sloan. She was a 1949 graduate of Waterloo High School. Jean was employed at Seneca Knitting Mill in Seneca Falls, NY, until she started her family. Later, she worked for five years at Vitti's Greenhouse in Waterloo, NY. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waterloo, NY. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia J. (Michael) Bartran of Waterloo, NY and Susan Cunningham of Newland, NC; son, Robert P. (Carrie) McGhan, Jr. of Auburn, NY; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her companion, Pooh. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Robert P. McGhan; brothers, Donald, Seward, Ralph, and Kenneth Sloan; and sisters, Edna Ross, Bernice Rooney and Dorothy Cring. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
