Waterloo – Amiel J. Radka, 88, of 27 Grove St., died Thursday (February 23, 2017) in Geneva General Hospital, with his wife by his side. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday (Mar. 2, 2017) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Rev. Laura Calos, pastor of Waterloo United Methodist Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Dundee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waterloo United Methodist Church, 21 E. William St., Waterloo, NY, 13165 or North Seneca Ambulance, 1645 North Rd., Waterloo, NY, 13165. Amiel was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Reading, NY, the son of Gustav and Wilma M. Mead Radka. He attended school in Watkins Glen. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Amiel was employed for many years at the Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, retiring in 1974. He went back to work at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Waterloo United Methodist Church. He was a member of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. and American Legion Post 1208 in Dundee, NY. Amiel was a member of the Moose Club in Penn Yan. He was also a member of Germanian Lodge #9 in Waterloo. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Velma C. Radka; daughter, Darlene (Will) Paulsen of Charlottesville, VA; sons, Thomas (Katherine) Radka and Kevin (Mary Ann Taney) Radka both of Waterloo, NY; grandchildren, Kerry (Rob) Harkins, Thomas John (Sydney Rogers) Radka, Rodney (Jenn) Maine, Jenn Maine, Ryan Harding and Katelyn Harding; great-grandchildren, Addesyn Harkins, Logan Harkins, Liam Radka, and Andrew Maine; brother, Richard (Winnie) Radka of Dundee, NY; sisters, Leah Johnson of Richmond, KY, Edith (Arnold) Anstee of Auburn, NY, Helen Ilnicki of Penn Yan, NY, Norma (Thomas) Schick of McClelland Town, PA, and Joyce Waite of Dundee, NY; many nieces and nephews. Amiel was predeceased by brothers, Arthur, Albert, Walter, and William Radka; sisters, Lydia Beckwith and Esther Andrews. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
