Obituary of Shirley Arlene Wesley

Savannah/Waterloo – Shirley A. Close Wesley, 86, formerly of Savannah and Waterloo, died Tuesday (February 7, 2017) in Living Center North at Geneva. There will be no calling hours. The memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 19) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. Roderick E. Coe will be the celebrant. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1120 S. Goodman St., Rochester, NY, 14620 or the organization of one's choice. Shirley was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Savannah, NY, the daughter of Willard F. and Florence J. Cooney Capron. She was a graduate of Clyde – Savannah High School. After the death of her husband, Lodurell, she attended and graduated from Marion S. Whelan School of Nursing in Geneva as an LPN. She was employed with Ontario County Health Facility in Hopewell, retiring in 1975. She attended the Living Hope Assembly of God Church in Waterloo. She was a member of Wayne County Senior Citizens Action Council and Statewide Senior Citizens Action Council Group. Shirley was a member of Retired Senior Volunteer People. She is survived by sons, Steven L. (Deborah) Close of Manchester and William F. (Helen) Close of Laurel, DE; daughter, Sherry L. (James) Ebel of Phelps; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell A. (Mary) Capron of S. Butler; brother-in-law, Robert Kelley of S. Butler; many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lodurell Close, who died in 1969 and her second husband, Leo B. Wesley, Sr., who died in 1993; daughter, Patti A. Close in 2014; brother, Forrest F. Capron and sisters, Katherine J. Caster and Bertha I. Kelley. Condolences for the family may be made to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
