Obituary of Gloria Joyce Van DeMortel

Waterloo – Gloria Joyce Van DeMortel,75, of Waterloo, died Friday (Sept. 2, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hosptial. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 8) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 9) at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor , will officate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterloo. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Rd., East Syracuse, N.Y. 13057. Gloria was born June 27, 1941 in Waterloo, the daughter of Gordon and Nellie Wise Hurlburt, Sr. Glora was a 1959 graduate of Waterloo High School. She attended Cayuga Community College taking classes in Industrial Machining. Gloria worked for Goulds Pump as machine operator then later as Secretary for Goulds. She was a member of steel workers union and a crafting club. Gloria was involved with and assisted the Snapettes baton twirling group. Gloria was a longtome communicant of St. Mary's Church. She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Scott) Craig, of Seneca Falls; Beth Van DeMortel of Waterloo and Diana Van DeMortel of Seneca Falls; sons, Brian (Shirley) Van DeMortel and Kevin (Angel Murray) Van DeMortel both of Waterloo; grandchildren, Joshua Craig, Jessalynn (Ben) Blaufuss, Sarah (Mathieu) Moran, Marissa Van DeMortel, Ryan and Macie Mendez, Jonathan Scholes, Tyler Van DeMortel, Cyle and Corey Francis; great-grandchildren, Francesha and Alexa Craig, Arianna Mendez and soon to be born Michael; sister, Linda Spina of Waterloo; brothers, Gordon (MaryLee) Van DeMortel Jr. of Seneca Falls; John (Diana) Van DeMortel of Geneva and Steve Hurlburt of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.Special friend, Angela Jones of Waterloo.
