Newark - Edith Ann Swanson, 77, died Sunday (December 23, 2012) at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. Friends may call on Friday (Dec. 28) from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo with the funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. Elder Edward Marriott, lay pastor, of Oaks Corners Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Joclyn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or American Cancer Society. Edith was born June 30, 1935 in Waterloo, the daughter of Kenneth and Pearl Smith Edington. She attended Phelps Central School. She opened Paradise Speedway with her ex-husband and was known for managing the concession and clubhouse. She loved to volunteer her time with American Cancer Society and Newark Developmental Disabilities Service Office. She is survived by her son Thomas Swanson of Newark, mother: Pearl Forsythe of Waterloo, three sisters: Helen (Stanley) Maines of Phelps, Armeda Mastellar and Kay Parmelee both of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews.
