Fayette/Waterloo – Leroy J. Poormon, 92, of 3006 Yost Rd., died Sunday (April 10, 2016) with his loving family by his side. He was a lifelong resident of Fayette and a resident of Yost Rd. for more than 70 years. Leroy and his wife owned and operated Happy Acres Farm for more than 50 years. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday (April 14) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday (April 15) at the funeral home. Pastor Karen Heit, from Rose United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fayette Rural Cemetery in Fayette. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fayette Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 41, Fayette, NY, 13065 or Waterloo Sportsmans' Club, P.O. Box 269, Waterloo, NY, 13165. Leroy was born March 26, 1924, in Fayette, the son of Asa L. and E. Ida Kidd Poormon. He was a 1941 graduate of Waterloo High School. Leroy was a former founding member of the Seneca Livestock Market Cooperative, serving as the secretary-treasurer. He was a life member of Hector Cooperative Grazing Association. Leroy was also a former member of Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension Association. He was a member of Seneca County Farm Bureau. He was a honorary member of the Seneca County Agricultural Society, former Fair Manager of Seneca County Agricultural Society and treasurer of the NY Pork Producers. Leroy served as Swine Superintendent at the NY State Fair for many years. He was a life member of the Fayette Volunteer Fire Dept. and served as a Fayette Fire Commissioner. Leroy also served as a member of the Fayette Rural Cemetery Asssociation. He was a life member of the Waterloo Sportsmans' Club. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia (LeRoy) Yates of N. Rose and Ellen TenEyck of Waterloo; daughter-in-law, Arlene Poormon of Waterloo; grandchildren, Jerome Yates, Jason (Kendra) TenEyck, Allan (Keri) Yates, Colleen Poormon, Robert (Denise) Poormon, Michael (Charity) Yates, Jennifer (Randy) Gardner, Heather (Brad) Queor; great-grandchildren, Kevin Jones, Brandon Slyter, Kristofer Poormon, Hunter Yates, Kyle Slyter, Hanna Queor, Logan Yates, Rylan Frances, Roy Poormon, Ty Gardner, Zoey Yates, Danielle Poormon, Danica Poormon, Troy Gardner, Dexter "DJ" Maxey, Renee Poormon, and Brody Buchell; brothers, Ralph (Jean), Benjamin (Kathy), and George (Nancy) Poormon; sisters-in-law, Kathie, Barbara, Sherry, and Jean Poormon; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Leroy was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, June McMillen Poormon; son, Michael Poormon; and son-in-law, Erwin TenEyck; brothers, Donald, Edwin, Carl, and Eugene Poormon; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary (John) Linebarger.
