Romulus - Leona "Nonnie" E. Christensen, 75, of Romulus, died Wednesday (February 24, 2016) at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo.
There will be no calling hours. The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (March 9) at Harvest Field Baptist Church, 4356 Rt. 414, Fayette. Rev. Floyd Marsh, pastor, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY14620 or Huntington Living Center, 369 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY, 13165.
Leona was born March 22, 1940 in Newfield, the daughter of Paul and Pearl E. Leonard Smith. Leona was employed as a nurse at Seneca Falls Hospital. Leaving employment from the hospital she was employed at Chick's Diner in Waterloo for a number of years. She and her husband then moved to Arizona where she was employed at JoAnn's Fabrics in Glendale, AZ.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert Christensen; sons, Donald Smith of Waterloo, Barry (Susan) Dykes of Midland, NC, and Douglas (financee, Rebecca Steininger) Christensen of DeWitt, Mich; daughters: Emma Galligan of Waterloo, Paula (David) Wilstrom of Nevada, Iowa, and Mitzi (David) Harrier of Seneca Falls; seventeen grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Laura) Smith and Donald (Paula) Smith both of Alpine; sisters, Anna Franklin of Watkins Glen, Linda (James) King of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Beverly Rich of Ithaca; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Leona was predeceased by a son, Brian Dykes and one daughter, Karen Moyer.
