Seneca Falls - William G. Boyes, 68, of 3134 E. Bayard St., died (January 26, 2016) at Geneva General Hospital in Geneva, with his loving family by his side.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 30, 2016) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Canandaigua City School District, William G. Boyes Music Scholarship, 143 N. Pearl St., Canandaigua, NY, 14424.
Bill was born Dec. 11, 1947, in Waterloo, NY, the son of Grant H. and Frances Ilaqua Boyes. He was a 1965 graduate of Waterloo High School and earned a Music Education degree from Eastman School of Music in 1969. Bill taught band music in the Waterloo Central School District for 20 years and was also chairman of the music department during his tenure with the school district. He went on to teach music for another 13 years in the Canandaigua School District. Bill was a Guest Conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. He was a member of the Music Educators National Conference and NYSUT. Bill started and directed the Seneca Falls Community Band.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia E. Conover Boyes; daughters, Amy (Gerry) Updyke and Bethany Boyes both of Seneca Falls; grandchildren, Austin and Quinton; sisters, Sandra Boyes of Waterloo and Debra Lundy of Clyde; father-in-law, Richard Conover of Seneca Falls; brother-in-law, Michael Conover of Rochester; sister-in-law, Judith (Kevin) Deemer of Mohrsville, Pa; and nieces, Mackenzie, Ciara, and Halee.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Grant H. Boyes and Frances Boyes Pearson.
