Waterloo - Gerald J. Herman, Sr., 85, of 19 Oak St., died Saturday (November 28, 2015) at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 3) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The memorial service will follow immediately at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Clare and St. Francis Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY, 14620.
Jerry was born March 30, 1930, in Interlaken, the son of David and Edna Herman. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Army. Returning from the service he began employment at West End Brewery, DiCampli Distributing from Border City, later, he was employed with Finger Lakes Bottling in Auburn. He later worked at Nutrite in Waterloo, until retiring.
He was a life member of Waterloo Memorial Post, 6433, V. F. W. and a member of Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion.
He is survived by son, Gerald J., Jr. (Cynthia) Herman of Stanley; daughter, Shari (David) Jaycox of Waterloo; grandchildren, Jolene (Vernon ) Herman, Cassandra (Jason) Jansen, Robert J Herman, Sr., Megan Jaycox, and Brandon Jaycox; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Herman of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by wife, Marjorie J. Allen Herman; and brother, Donald Herman.
