Waterloo/Wolcott - Evelyn (Peg) R. O'Neil VanDeusen, 89, formerly of Waterloo, passed away Wednesday (September 30, 2015) at Pines of Peace Comfort Care Home in Ontario.
Friends may call 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 3) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 3) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to National Women's Hall of Fame, 76 Fall St., Seneca Falls, NY, 13148 or Pines of Peace, 2378 Ridge Rd., Ontario, NY, 14519.
Evelyn was born July 10, 1926 in Savannah, the daughter of Chester and Ruth Pond O'Neil. She was employed by General Electric in the early 50s in Clyde, then transferred to Auburn, retiring in 1990. She was a lifetime member of International Association of Machinist and Areospace Workers Union. Evelyn was a former member of the Geneva Moose Club. She enjoyed sports, especially bowling, basketball and baseball. Evelyn loved to travel to new destinations. Her family was the greatest love of her life!
She is survived by daughters, Diane (Allan) Gile of Chesopeke, VA, Cheryl (Donald) Wright and Laura R. VanDeusen both of Wolcott; son, Norman C. "Chet" VanDeusen of Wolcott; grandchildren, Donald, Jr., James, and Jeffrey (Erna) Wright, Andrea Gile, Julie and Jennifer Bellinger, Brandon and Chase VanDeusen, Pierce, Shannan, and Lauran Bucknam; great-grandchildren, Cody, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Garred, Seyaria, Gracie, Shelia, David, Christopher, Carissa, Joshawa, Travis, Marcel "Jack"and Emma; great-great grandchildren, Astrea, Jace, Cali, and Olivia; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Evelyn was predeceased by one granddaughter, Lisa Wright; brothers, Edward Devitt, Eugene Brooks, and Henry O'Neil; and sisters, Cecil Buck and Caroline O'Neil Hoffman.
