Waterloo - Albert J. Cardinale, 89, of 205 W. Main St., died Tuesday (September 8, 2015) at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo. There will be no calling hours. The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday (Sept. 11) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterloo. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Home, P.O. Box 516, Seneca Falls, NY, 13148 or St. Mary's Catholic Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY, 13165. Albert was born June 1st, 1926 in Geneva , the son of John and Anna Tandle Cardinale. He was a graduate of Geneva High. Al served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. He owned and operated Cardinale's Grocery in Waterloo for over 50 years. Al looked forward to sitting on his porch and visiting with those in the neighborhood. He enjoyed his garden, painting and bowling. Most of all he loved and enjoyed his family. If anyone ever asked, "How are you, Al?" He answer was always, "Mean and miserable." Anyone knowing Al knew he was never mean or miserable!! He is survived by grandsons, Matthew (Nicole) Cardinale of Seneca Falls and Daniel (Erin) Kosienski of Waterloo; granddaughter, Heidi (Michael Yip) Kosienski of Syracuse; daughter-in-law, Sherry Cardinale of Waterloo; one brother, Richard (Carol) Cardinale of Geneva; sister, Anne (Donato "Dan") Laurenza of Geneva; and many nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Gringeri Cardinale; son, Alan A. Cardinale; brothers, Vincent, Stephen, James, and Edward Cardinale; sisters, Marie Romeo, Jean D'Ettorre, Phyllis Frank, and Janet Uhl.
