Waterloo/Fayette - William J Snyder, 85, died Thursday (April 23, 2015) at Geneva General Hospital in Geneva, with loving family by his side. In keeping with Bill's wishes there will be no calling hours. The graveside service will be at the convenience of the family in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY 13165. Bill was born March 4, 1930 in Brookville, PA, the son of Theodore and Iris Horm Snyder. He attended Brookville School in Brookville, PA. Bill then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country from Nov. of 1948 to Nov. of 1949, then served in the reserves for a number of years. Returning from the service, he moved to the Finger Lakes to be employed at Sylvania in Seneca Falls. He worked at Sylvania until the plant closed. Bill then was employed at the Seneca Army Depot, until he retired. He attended Zion Lutheran Church in Geneva. He was a life member and an inner guard of the Elks Club 992 in Seneca Falls. Bill was also a member of the eagles club in Brookville, PA. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, having celebrated their anniversary March 5, 2015, Joyce M. Hauf Snyder; and his sister's daughters, Deanna Bouenburger; sisters-in-law, Debra (Keith) Buonocore and Diane (Joe) Tomanek, and Cindy Hauf; nieces and nephews, Kim, Ronald, Donald, Lynette Hauf, and Lori Tomanek. Bill was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Don Mushrush and brothers-in-law, Ronald and his wife, Judy, Hauf and Donald Hauf.
