WATERLOO - Andrew L. "Ozzie" Osborne, 68, passed away Friday (March 13, 2015) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y..
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday (April 25) at the Waterloo United Methodist Church, 21 E. Williams St., Waterloo. The Rev Laura Calos, pastor, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Office of the Aging, 1 DiPronio Dr., Waterloo, NY, 13165.
Andrew was born July 30, 1946, in Waterloo, NY, the son of the late Lloyd and Kathryn LeClaire Osborne. He was a member of the Class of 1964 Waterloo High School. Ozzie was a very familiar face and personality in downtown Waterloo, where he lived and worked. He was a bartender for over 40 years at the same location. Ozzie was employed by various owners of the bar, now known as Harry's, including Louie Sabatine (Louie's), the LaBelle's, Sam DeMetro, and Harry Schwarz (Harry's). During Sam's ownership the tavern was named "Ozzie's". For a short time, Ozzie enjoyed proprietorship with Patty Faiola, (Tish and Ozzie's). He was an enthusiastic sports fan especially for Syracuse University football and basketball; attending many games. He was an intelligent man, an avid reader, a lover of trivia and enjoyed lively conversations. Ozzie enjoyed organizing and running pools for various sporting events. He was an excellent card player, loved playing the horses and buying lottery tickets. In his younger years, he was a bowler, golfer and played tennis and basketball. He took pleasure in attending the daily senior luncheons at the Office for the Aging. Ozzie especially appreciated the help and guidance from Kim Pfieffer, Coordinator of Services.
Andrew is survived by his brother, Donald (Rosalie Karweck) Osborne of Waterloo; sister, Sue Bennett of Sayre, Penn.; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends.
He was predeceased by a very good friend, George Peterman.
