Obituary of Gertrude Carpenter

Waterloo - G. Elvere Weigand Carpenter, 91, of Clifton Springs, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday (February 27, 2015) at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic.
Friends may call from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday (March 4) at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, N.Y. The funeral service will be Thursday (March 5) at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. William Riegle, pastor of Phelps Baptist Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Phelps Baptist Church, 28 Church St., Phelps, N.Y. 14532
Elvere was born April 26, 1923 in Buffalo, the daughter of William T. and Marie Janette Gsell Evans. She was a 1942 graduate of Geneva High School. Elvere was first employed at North American Ins. Co. in the claims department, then as telephone operator for Taylor Brown Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. She was also a member of Citrus Springs Baptist Church in Florida and a former member of the Waterloo Baptist Church. Elvere loved to sew, knit and bake for the family.
She is survived by sons, Jeffery (LeeAnn) Weigand of Waterloo and M. Bruce (Julie) Weigand, of Turin; one granddaughter, Polly Weigand; five grandsons; Jesse (Kristin) Weigand; Luke Weigand; Jacob Weigand; Cody (Stephanie) Weigand; Chad Weigand; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband, Rev. Carlton Carpenter and her first husband, William 'Bud' H. Weigand; also brother, William 'Max' Evans.
