Waterloo - Melley Ann Wheeler Kleman, 84, of 99 Stark St., died Wednesday (October 10, 2012) peacefully at her home.
Friends may call 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 12) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The memorial mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 13) at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to purchase books for the Waterloo Library, may be made to Waterloo Library and Historical Society, 31 E. Williams St., Waterloo, 13165.
Melley was born Nov. 6, 1927 in Rochester, the daughter of Marvin M. and Adeline M. Dossanbach Wheeler. She was a 1949 graduate of the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Melley was also a longtime member, trustee, and past president of the Waterloo Library and Historical Society. She served as president of the Finger Lakes Library System and trustee of the N.Y.S. Association of Library Boards. She was very active in several Bridge Clubs, for at least 50 years.
She is survived by three sons: Frederick (Roz) Kleman of Livermore, Calif., Charles (Abby) Kleman of Ft. Myers, FL, and Christopher Kleman of Waterloo; three daughters: Sarah Kleman of Houston, TX, Lisa Kleman of Worcester, Mass, and Mazie (Muncie) McLeod of Boston, Mass; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Ashton of Ft. Myers; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Kleman, who died Jan. 5, 2001.
