Waterloo/Seneca Falls - William H. VanDeMortel, 75, of Seneca Falls and formerly of Waterloo, died Friday (May 9, 2014) at Geneva General Hospital in Geneva. Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (May 14) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday (May 15) at St. Francis Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Mayer, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Geneva. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the organization of one's choice. Bill was born Nov. 25, 1938 in Geneva, the son of Jacob and Nettie Brower VanDeMortel. He attended school at St. Francis and Geneva High School. After leaving school he was employed with NYS Thruway, for ten years. Then he was employed at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, for almost 30 years. Later, he was employed at Walmart in Geneva. He is survived by sons, Paul VanDeMortel of Richmond, VA. and Darrell VanDeMortel of Seneca Falls; daughters, Lynn Marie (Tremain Hunter) VanDeMortel of Richmond, VA. and Brandy Paulk of Seneca Falls; step-son, Glenn (Charlene) Crawford of Lake Placid, FL.; step-daughters, Sharon (Cathy Kopsa) Edington of Lodi and Kelly (Elmer) Sparks of Oklahoma City, OK.; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Walter (Lois) VanDeMortel of Geneva; sisters, Jean Radiker of Endicott and Carol Turner of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
