Waterloo - Pearl A. Trotter Stratton, 90, of 303 E. Washington St., Apt. 238, a former Waterloo resident, died Monday (October 1, 2012) at West Suburban Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bloomingdale, Ill.
Friends may call 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 7) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. (Oct. 8) at the funeral home. Rev. Thomas Easttey, pastor of Waterloo United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Waterloo United Methodist Church, 21 E. William St, 13165.
Pearl was born February 19, 1922 in Hector, the daughter of George L. and Marie Gardner Trotter. She graduated from Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls. She began employment with Seneca Army Depot and later, was employed with Seneca Falls Machine Shop; where she met her future husband, Kenneth. While living in Waterloo she was a member of the Waterloo United Methodist Church. She was an active member having taught Sunday school and being a youth group adviser. She and her family moved to Rochester in 1965. During their stay in Rochester she was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. The family then moved to Elmhurst, Ill. in 1967 where she was a member of First UMC in Elmhurst where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Elmhurst Welcome Wagon Club. After Ken's retirement from Zenith, Pearl and Ken moved to Citrus Springs, Fl. They were active members of Dunnellon United Methodist Church. Eventually Pearl returned to Illinois to be near her daughter, in May of 2007. Upon her return she was involved again, with Elmhurst UMC. She was an active member of WSCS/UMW in the churches where she was a member.
She is survived by her daughter: Marlene Stratton of Lombard, Ill.; granddaughters: Stacey (Elbert) Barnhart of Seneca Falls and Krista (Clay) Parmelee of Waterloo; great grandchildren:Sierra Barnhart, Cody Barnhart and Tia Parmelee; daughter-in-law: Linda Stratton of Waterloo; sister: Phyllis Bailey of Penn Yan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband: Kenneth E. Stratton on April 25, 2000 and her son: Richard G. Stratton on June 22, 2005.
